Applied to Georgetown's school of business last year and got declined.
Any thoughts on my chances transferring as a junior?
Will having applied last year help me at all?
Any other good business school that you recommend?

I’m a two-time loser at Georgetown. I might not wait for a 3rd strike and just transfer mid-year to Boston College if I can.

Anyway, I don’t think they care if you’ve previously applied. If you were previously accepted and you declined admission, then maybe. But I think the fact by itself that you previously submitted an application will have very little bearing, if any, on your current application.

Try to do something, like more extracurriculars or spending more time on your essay, that will significantly improve your application from last year.

Good luck.

Thanks for you help.
If dont mind me asking, what were your stats when you applied?

I had a 3.54 in high school, 3.92 over two semesters in college and transferred into the business school my SATs were around 1700 all 3 i think ACT 28,I had alot of ECs and international volunteer work; I was placed on the waiting list, then admitted at the last minute, so I’m one of the ones that just made it in to put things into perspective best of luck!

@micheallungerrr that is awesome, i hope i will be able to get in next fall semester. What school did you attend before you went to Georgetown?

yea literally like august 6th-ish i found out i was on the ‘extended transfer waitlist’ so its a long process just visit once or twice if you can, make the essays count, call the admin. if you have questions.

I attended Gannon University, its a small private catholic school in Erie Pennsylvania. About 70% get in so its not rigorous i took 18 cred then 21 cred (more than avg which was a plus for the app) and maintained a 3.9.

Did you have an interview with an alumni also? Was georgetown the only business school that you applied to? haha sorry for all of the questions.

No, not all students get an interview due to location of alumni. In high school, I only applied to the one school and got in on a full scholarship then applied to George Washington & GTown. Rejected at GW somehow haha

I’m a student at George Washington’s Elliott School of International Affairs and I applied to SFS. I had a 3.69 GPA, 17.5 credit hours completed, 17.5 credits in progress
I also had a 1470/1600 SAT, a 4.06 HSGPA, and was in the top 5% of HS grad. class

I was also an Army ROTC cadet on 4-year scholarship and in the Knights of Columbus. Received recognition from President Bush during senior year of HS.

I know my GPA probably could’ve been a little higher, but I thought besides that I was exactly the kind of person they were looking for. Apparently not. Whatever. They didn’t want me so **** them. The fact that I’m a white male from the DC area likely didn’t help.

Good luck though.

yea that is why i am hoping that transferring as a junior will help. Even though i am studying abroad in Italy this spring semester. I wonder if they will look at that as a positive or negative

They’ll probably look at it as more positive than negative, provided you’re taking a full schedule over there and not just taking three classes and partying the rest of the time, like some of my friends did.
