Has anybody had any experience with transferring from a CC to a state university as an interior design, graphic design or architecture major? The target major here is interior design, but the process is probably similar for graphic design and architecture.

I ask, because it looks more complicated than it would be for the typical BS or BA major. The design majors are so tightly structured, with a full schedule of required courses in a set sequence.

Some of the four-year schools do portfolio review for the 12th grade applicants, and accept people into the major from Day 1. They must have some attrition, with seats opening up to be filled by transfers, in year 2 and 3. Other schools accept freshmen as pre-majors, and cull the herd after foundational courses, at the end of year 1 or year 2. These programs also say that they will consider transfer applicants, but I wonder if it's harder to come in from the outside and compete for a seat, when they must turn away plenty of their own people at the end of the foundational work.

Any information would be appreciated.
