Transferring from Community College

I was wondering if anybody has any experience with transferring to College Park from an instate community college. I've read that graduates from community colleges in Maryland are supposed to automatically given admission to UMD and I was just wondering if any of you guys had first hand experience with this. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Are you already enrolled in a community college? If so, ask there. Community colleges have advisors who help students with meeting requirements and transferring to four-year institutions.

But I think you have misread or misremembered what you have read. Community-college gradates are not guaranteed admission to the University of Maryland. You can find more information here, among other places: [Transfer Student FAQs - University of Maryland](http://www.transferfaqs.umd.edu/transferprocess.htm#a17).

Community22 - I think you maybe be talking about this? Click on link below for more info.
[University of Maryland - Maryland Transfer Advantage Program](http://www.admissions.umd.edu/apply/MarylandTransferAdvantage.cfm)

The minimum of a 3.0 GPA at the community college level is one of the important things to note from Mom4Coll’s link. If you go to a different MD community college than those that participate in the MD Transfer Advantage Program, applying for a transfer with at least a 3.0 GPA will def put you in the running for a transfer admit.
