Transferring from CPP to a UC?

Is it possible to take my general ed. classes as CPP and then transfer to another UC?

I know that transferring from a community college to a UC is much easier, but what if I’d rather start at a Cal State associated university? I know the credit value of the courses wouldn’t be equal, but is there a way I could start a comprehensive transfer plan with myself and guidance counselor?

A CC to UC has a better defined pathway vs a CSU to UC transfer especially with the TAG program. Definitely possible to plan a CPP to UC transfer but I think that going into any 4 year university with the mind set to transfer will limit your college experience from the onset, but this is my opinion. Going to a CC would also be more cost effective and using assist.org will listed the classes needed for transfer while with the CSU, you would have to try to articulate the CPP classes to the UC classes based on your syllabi. Assist, org does not have CSU to UC courses listed to make the transfer easy.

also if you have a decent (3.0 at my school) you can join the honors program at cc which makes it easier to get into the harder UCs. At my cc the honors program has a 80% acceptance rate into UCLA. UCs give priority to cc transfers anyway.

@feartheroar makes an excellent point in that CC transfers also get priority. CPP is a very good school so why are considering a UC over CPP?

Can someone help me out as well? Planning on going from cpp to cc to uci but idk if all my classes would be transferable.

@KEEP IT COOL why would you spend the money at cpp if you planned on going to cc? That seems like a waste when you could go to Cc and save money and transfer directly to uci after 2 yrs. Plus it will be that much harder trying to transfer classes from two schools into uci. I’d say either go to cpp or go to cc.

@Bean981 I am a freshman at cpp but i don’t really like it here. I am planning on going to cc my sophmore year and then transfer to a UC. How can i check if the classes ive already taken at cpp for my first year are trasferrable to UC.

@KeepItcool: You need to cross reference the CPP courses with your CC using assist.org and then to the UC system. Keep the syllabus for all your CPP courses and hopefully the course descriptions will help in articulating these courses. You can also ask your CC advisor for help with the courses.

Not sure what the syllabus is. Why would i need it if i can just cross reference the names of the classes from cpp to cc and then to uc?

You need to go to a counselor rather than seek the advice of random people on the internet in these forums for which you are doing something unconventional.

You need to make sure that the classes you’ve taken at Cal Poly Pomona will transfer to the community college for credit otherwise you’ll end up having to take them over again. There is no real transfer relationship between Cal State and UC from my understanding several years ago when I considered transferring to UC Irvine from Cal Poly Pomona. Even coming in as a transfer student to Cal Poly Pomona from CC, I had to provide past syllabi to make sure that my classes came in correctly so I wouldn’t have to retake any once I got to Cal Poly Pomona.

You should’ve made sure you got the class syllabus from each teacher. Look on Blackboard.
