Hello, I’m currently enrolled as a freshman at CSUF. The school i wanted to attend SDSU but I was denied, I really want to transfer over there into the Kinesiology Pre-Physical therapy program. The problem is that there isn’t a course equilivent for some of the classes that are mandatory to enter their program. Is there any sort of path or suggestions to help me out with this? I’ve called SDSU’s transfer advisors but they suggested I go to a neighboring community college but if my current college doesn’t have these classes, how will a community college have them? Overall I really want to be a physical therapist and I can’t seem to figure what I should to help me get into their program. I’ve used a lot of the transfer planners and I’ve checked many sources as well as call transfer advisors but nothing has helped me much… Thank you!!!
Transferring to SDSU is very difficult and they favor local CCC transfers. If possible, I would look into attending a SD CCC which will probably have the required courses needed for the transfers or stay at CSUF since their Kinesiology program is considered very good. It you want to become a PT, what is important is getting a high GPA, taking the required pre-req courses to apply to a PT program and some hands-on experience which you could easily get by staying where you are at CSUF.
Even if you transferred to SDSU for their Kinesiology/Pre-Physical therapy major, this is not guarantee that you will be accepted into the DPT program.
Give Fullerton a fair shot… you have been there less than a month. Join a club or two and dig into the culture/activities that make Fullerton a good school. Do your best and apply to transfer to SDSU as a Jr if you are still interested. True, they don’t take many non-local CC transfers but, honestly, it is really competitive for the local Kinesiology applicants as well.
