Hello, I checked the unit requirements and it is indeed possible. However, I don't know if a 3.1 GPA is all that competitive enough to get me into UCR (applied math). I would be applying to redo my junior year after my one year at Cal Poly Pomona (transferring there from a CC).

Is it hard to get into the non-impacted programs such as math?

Sorry, I just saw your post. I’ve really enjoyed my time at UCR. I wouldn’t go anywhere else because I want to stay in-state during my undergraduate career, UCR offers the best program for my major (Writing), and it’s not costing me much to go here. It made practical sense for me to become a Highlander, but I also really enjoy the campus, the people, and all the events held at UCR and the surrounding city. I’ve met some awesome people and I’m really excited to progress further into my major so I can connect with other like-minded students.

The only thing I’d change about UCR is its location (which is impossible, but you know what I mean). Personally, I’m a little too close to home, but I’d also like to live somewhere closer to the coast, like UCSD, or closer to a major city, like UCB or UCLA. However, I wouldn’t get the same level of academics and personal attention that I currently receive at UCR, so I think it’s worth it. Besides, there’s a lot to do in the city of Riverside and the Inland Empire. I really only want to move after I graduate so I can find somewhere with cooler temperatures :b

But yeah, on the whole, I love UCR and I’m glad I decided to attend. There’s a post somewhere else on this forum called “UCR review by a junior” or something, and it’s pretty accurate.
