Transferring from JC to UC

Hi guys!

I've been taking classes at a JC throughout the past six years, while I've worked full-time and traveled a bit. I'm ready to finally transfer to a UC!

If I took major prep courses for Political Science at a JC that I attended 5-6 years ago, and received a C in two of the classes, what happens if I re-take those courses at the JC that I'm currently at (different city), and receive an A? Will the two grades be averaged out? Will the UC even consider my second grade, or will they only go with the first grade? I know that you can't repeat a course if you receive a C while at the same JC, but not sure how it works when re-taking the course at a different college...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

There’s an entire forum here devoted to UC transfers. If you post your question there, you’ll be more likely to get informed answers.

every CC in CA has a counseling office that handles transfers. You’re better off talking to them instead of hoping someone gives you the right answer. Also there are guaranteed admission programs for many of the UC campuses; see the Transfer Admission Guarantee at [UC Transfer - Home](<a href=“Understanding UC transfer | UC Admissions”>http://uctransfer.universityofcalifornia.edu/)

Since a “C” grade is considered passing we do not allow repeats of “C” grades. Only the first grade will be considered.
