Transferring from LS college into Engineering?

How do you do it and when can you do it? Is the process/selection difficult?

[Change of College (into COE) — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](Change of college - Berkeley Engineering)

I myself is a L&S to CoE transfer and if I can do it, so can you…
PM me if you want to know more about it.

wait is that 7.6% acceptance rate for this year a typo…

^ Definitely a typo. I think that percentage is for the incoming freshmen.
There are no more than ~20 people applying for transfer and sometimes it is 100% acceptance rate if everybody has decent GPA and can graduate within 4 years.

The real concerns are 1. which engineering would you like to join and 2. is engineering really for me?

7.6% for incoming freshman is still really low though! is it usually that low

“For the 2012-13 academic year, the College of Engineering had more than 12,000 freshman applicants and 13.2% were admitted.”

[Prospective Freshman FAQ - UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/prospective-students/faq/prospective-freshman-faq.html#general)

Haha that makes more sense… just a random question though- since coe admits by major, why doesn’t berkeley ever release the individual acceptance rates for each engineering major. they tell you which are harder to get into but is there actual data?

[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu) has information by campus and major, but the latest data is from 2008-2009, and they list “engineering” as one major, so it does not really help distinguish between different engineering majors’ selectivity.

Of the schools that admit by major (which is a lot of them), the only one that I have found that shows by major thresholds is SJSU:

[SJSU Admission](http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-943.html)

is there an essay portion to transfer? or is it purely based on gpa of prereqs?

There is an essay essentially why what you want to transfer and/or what made you apply for transfer.
