Transferring from NYU to Columbia

I’m currently a freshman at NYU, and I feel like Columbia University is a better choice for me. There are more opportunities for my goals at Columbia than that at NYU. I love some of the projects and discoveries made at Columbia. Going into NYU, I knew I wanted to transfer out, but I gave it a chance. Now I want to know how good are my chances for getting into Columbia as a transfer student with the following:

NYU Class of 2019
High School GPA: 3.2963 (with approximately 16 AP courses and 8 dual enrollment courses) - got a mathematics minor from Florida Atlantic University while in high school
College GPA (only one semester): 3.533
ACT: 28

I got offered to be a TA for biology 1. I plan on doing research at NYU Medical Center over the summer. I got offered for a few internships.

While I was in high school, I attended a biomedical research program at University of Pennsylvania and Boston University. I was an intern at the oncology department at a hospital. I am currently working on a few projects of my own.

If I don’t have a chance, what can I do to improve my chances?

it looked pretty good to me at NYU, how come you want to leave?

With your stats you were lucky to be admitted to NYU. You want to transfer for prestige and that will be obvious to the Columbia adcoms.

^^ def agree. with your stats, columbia and any other ivy+ school is essentially out of reach. also the fact that you obviously want to transfer for prestige reasons, is a huge red flag for adcoms. if i were you i wouldn’t waste my time on prepping transfer applications to schools like columbia. either stay at nyu and do the best that you can or try to transfer to a college you have a realistic chance of getting in.
