I'm not sure if I'm being reasonable: I want to transfer from NYU to UCB for psych (which, as I understand, is an impacted major). I feel like my chances are slim since I would be an out-of-state applicant competing for a very limited number of spaces. Should I even bother? (I have a 3.6 GPA).

I'm well into the major here at NYU and I'll have completed more than half of the psych requirements by Fall '08, but I don't quite understand the lower-division coursework that UCB would like me to finish. These requirements seem specific to CC transfers, so I'm not sure how they translate from a four-year university.

Any input would be appreciated!

why UCB? you mean UC Berkeley?

First of all , there is not going to be some list that says what classes you need to take at NYU. Your courses would be evaluated on a course by course basis. The reason they post the courses for CC students is because its the california system you are transferring within it. Once you start talking about another 4 year university, especially one in another state, they really can not tell you upfront what courses you would need to take. You would simply have to see if the courses you have taken are comparable to the ones they required or contact the admissions office, even though i doubt they will have a list of the courses required from NYU students.
