Transferring from one Community College to another Community College. I need help!

Hello. I'm currently a community college student. Ok so just recently I decided to stop going to SMC and start going to PCC. I have some debts that need to be filled at SMC due to issues. Right now, I am unable to obtain my official transcripts. SMC won't budge until I pay. Which II understand. Through counselor help, I managed to obtain my UNOFFICIAL transcripts from SMC and get some prerequisites waived at PCC. I was told at some point I have to submit official transcripts to my new school. Now, I already enrolled and payed for new classes at my new college this upcoming fall, yet, I have yet to submit my official transcripts due to the financial issue. Is this unusual? Do you usually submit transcripts before you enroll at your new school? Will I be able to attend my fall classes? Does it matter when transcripts need to be sent? How does transferring from a different college usually work? I need your help. And thank you.

No, it’s not unusual to submit official transcripts after you have started classes at a CC. And, yes, you will be able to attend classes (even though they have not received your official transcripts). You should have the transcripts sent as soon as you possibly can so that your CC can do an official transfer evaluation of your courses from SMC and determine how they apply to your current CC (as well as CSU GE’s if you plan to transfer to a CSU or IGETC if you plan to transfer to a UC). You will not receive official credit for classes taken at SMC until your current CC receives your official transcript and does a transfer evaluation. Keep in mind, too, that when you transfer from the CC to a 4-year university you will be required to send transcripts from all colleges you have attended….so take care of the SMC issue as soon as you possibly can.

Thank you for your response.
This put me at ease.
But yes, we’re trying as fast as I can to pay the debts at SMC.
It’s a pain, but I’ll do it as soon as possible.
I’m just glad I can at least do PCC with the new classes I enrolled in and send in transcripts a bit later.
