Transferring from OU to OSU

I have a dilemma. I currently attend Ohio University for communications (which is it known for) and believe I am getting a q quality education but OU has never felt right and I feel like I would be better at a place in the city like OSU (so more for social and entertainment purposes). Size isn’t really an issue but I hope I am not downgrading my education too much as I am interested in doing the same and possibly journalism at Ohio State. I am also worried I will have a hard tiime making a whole new group of friends as a sophomore transfer in the dorms and will want to go back to OU. Any tips? Anyone on here transfer from Ou or a school like it (kent, bgsu, miami) and like OSU more? I NEED HELP!!

Hello OP, i am in the same exact dilemma as you. I love OU but i feel my college time could be such an improvement if i moved to Osu. Theres nothing to complain about in Athens but i totally feel your choice, it was my first choice and i have always wanted to do it. But im waiting until after fest season to make my mind up

I suspect that the only way to downgrade your OU education in Communications would be for you not to take advantage of all they had to offer. I am curious. You say you love the school, feel you are getting a good education, but something doesn’t feel right. What might that be? Most students who wish to transfer are unhappy with their current situation. That doesn’t seem to be the case according to your post. While tOSU may be the state flagship a decision to leave your current situation seems to have at least as much chance of being a negative one as a positive one. Good luck.

To be honest with you, I’m not sure that Scripps is really all that good for journalism anymore. They may be “better” at it than OSU, but I was never all that impressed by the quality of students there. I think the location also hurts OU’s journalism program. When I was there, I knew someone who transferred to a “lesser” journalism school in DC because it just came with better internships and post-graduate options.

That being said, I don’t think you should transfer to OSU simply for the social and entertainment options. That’s just not a good reason to change schools.
