Transferring from out of state to Univ. of Washington

Hi everyone!

I am a student at Skyline College in San Bruno, California. This is my last semester here and I’ve been wanting to go to UW for a long time. I have a GPA 3.70; nursing major, but is also looking for alternative major to apply as a transfer. The application period opens in December 2017 for Autumn 2018.

I wonder what are my chances of attending UW, really hope I can get my foot into the door with a biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, or cell and molecular biology major and apply as to the school of nursing there. Anyone has that route or have more information? I’m attending the transfer Thursday in December in hopes to get my classes evaluated with the adviser since I am an out of state transfer.

Thank you!
anyone with any information, please share

Spend a lot of time on the transfer tools page

My advice would be not to go to UW if you are not accepted into the nursing major as a transfer. If you already have two years of classes and then do a third year at UW without being in your major, you’re going to start hitting maximum credit policies and have to graduate with a major you don’t want.

Apply to multiple nursing options and go to the school that accepts you with the major you want. You are much more likely to actually become a nurse that way, and you can always move to Seattle later.
