Transferring From Several CCCs

I never make threads but I have an urgent question. I go to 2 different CCCs but I think I want to go to an additional, other community college. Will this affect my transfer chances if I'm not devoted to one CCC and take classes from several?

No, but it will affect the complexity of articulation. I’ve attended 4 CC’s to get the CS breadth that I wanted and to take additional GE’s. It was this complexity that lead me to think I had completed a prereq for Cal when I didn’t and I was consequently rejected. You just need to really be on top of the articulation agreements for each school that you attend. It is not considered a negative thing – if anything it shows them that you’re eager to get the courses you want.

Thanks for the prompt response. This is good. I will be careful.

which CCC are you adding on now? lol

West Valley x[

oh, i took my math class there concurrently while still in high school, and now to continue the series i’m gonna take a math class at mission over summer XD

damn I wish I took ccc classes in hs. You should’ve told me! @_@

I have a friend at school who basically got screwed because of this situation. He didn’t get into any of the schools he wanted to because he had classes from all over the place that qualified for different things, didn’t transfer over, or whatever.

^ Can you elaborate? This isn’t the articulation problem that I’ve already stated? If it is the articulation problem, and it sounds like it is, then your friend was in error (as I was) and taking courses at different CC’s remains an okay thing to do.

I hope it is fine because I have taken classes from 3 different cc’s.

You can take as many classes from as many CCs as you’d like. But if you’re going to be IGETC or TAP certified, make sure you choose one ‘main’ school that will be responsible for all of that (you would send in your transcripts from the other CCs to the ‘main’ school).

Oh man, everyone I know is attending De Anza/Foothill/West Valley at once.

Yeah FHDAWV, aka the Big Three, are synonymous with HYP.

New question: When one applies to 4-year colleges in the Fall, how would one get the transcripts from all CCCs together to present to the 4-years?

You just order all your transcripts and send them to the colleges. I’ve taken courses at De Anza, Foothill, and West Valley during hs and I had to do that when I enrolled in a UC.

So it is up to the colleges to gather data from my various transcripts and combine them together to make sure I took the right courses? I’m actually thinking of taking 1 class at SJCC now because the professor is good…so that would make it 4 CCCs. o_o

I’ve done 6, maybe 7. Applying to grad school is gonna be a *****.

You go to the DA website and order your transcript to send to whichever 4 year university. Then you go to FH website and order your transcript to send to the same university. Repeat with your other colleges.

Your 4 year univ will collect all these separate transcripts and then input them in your student account. Like right now on my UCSC web portal I can view my transfer credits from my AP tests, CC’s I attended, and also my summer courses that I took at UCB.

midnightgolfer…u took classes at foothill, de anza, and west valley during hs…hmm…u went to cupertino high school, didn’t you? now the real question is did you go to hyde…

Actually I didn’t go to CHS, but I did go to Hyde :>
