Transferring from SJSU to UW??

Hi everybody!

I am currently a junior at SJSU for Communicative Disorders & Sciences but my heart is taking me to UW-Seattle for Speech & and Hearing Sciences. I was at a CC prior to this with a GPA of 2.9. I have heard, but not confirmed, that an inclining GPA does help chances of admission (2.5 - 2.7 - 2.9). I have taken all required courses, in addition to 2 semesters of American Sign Language, and am about to start upper division classes at SJSU. I have volunteered at Walden West (a local science camp) recently and am currently working with children at a local gym. I would apply this fall to join UW for the winter quarter but what is the likelihood of acceptance?

Thank you!

For a number of reasons, your chances of transferring now are slim to none. Among them, UW is one of the country’s top schools and a 2.9 simply isn’t going to get you in.

Apply away but, then focus on getting your BS from SJSU with the best GPA you can manage and thinking about grad school in Seattle.

Good luck,
