Transferring from Stanford

Does Columbia take senior transfers? I hate Stanford.

Transferring to Columbia as a senior isn’t really possible. The website used to say it was out of the question, but now it says “Candidates with more than four semesters of college coursework elsewhere are not encouraged to apply. Columbia’s academic requirements and institutional policies make completion of all graduation requirements in a reasonable and timely fashion unlikely.”

To graduate from Columbia College, completion of all Core and major requirements is necessary, which is impossible in one year, and mighty challenging even in two (although President Obama did it).

However, if you’re really a rising junior at Stanford who hates the place, go ahead and ping the admissions office about transferring. Your situation would be novel enough that they might give the proposal some thought, if only to brag to counterparts at other schools what a hassle it is dealing with the disgruntled Stanford students banging on the door to get into Columbia.

How about finishing the reqs in one and a half years? This is given that I’ve done two and two thirds years, wasting a sixth of a year.

Seeing as Columbia’s website only discourages such applications, as did the people int he admissions office when I emailed them…

I want to read the Odyssey just no more science and engineering, I’ve not taken a single humanities course at Stanford, do they even offer it? smh
