After High school I went to my states public university, not a community college, which is decently ranked in the state it self and I ended up with a 3.65 cum. GPA, is this enough for me to transfer to NYU, Berkeley, Brown, or possibly Dartmouth? Will my SAT and ACT scores be factored in when I apply to transfer and will they look at my high school GPA?
thanks

A lot of people try to transfer into a top 20 school so it will be difficult with a 3.65 GPA. NYU may be more of a possibility, but it will likely cost a lot more than your public school.

Also transfer students often do not get the same type of aid packages as freshmen get so if money is an issue it could be tricky. And if you are transferring after one year many colleges do look back to your HS record as well.

No. A 3.65 would not likely be high enough. Those schools likely accept top transfers (3.8+).

Another issue would be that some/many don’t give great aid to transfers.

You’d have little chance of transferring from a state univ to Berkeley anyway…UCB accepts mostly CC transfers

UCB takes all sorts of transfers. What major will you be?

I don’t know what Berkeley’s official policy is on transfers, but I do know lots of Berkeley graduates. Many of them started out in CC and transferred to Berkeley. I can’t think of any that transferred in from another 4 year school, although I’m sure there are some.

In any event, a 3.65 seems too low.

You need to check the Common Data Set, section D, for each school, to see if they look at HS info.
