Hi everyone, I am a sophomore at Stony Brook University and I am trying to transfer to a new school. I have a GPA of 3.3 in health sciences while playing for the D1 soccer team and doing an internship at the SBU Hospital. I am trying to transfer to D3 schools so I can play every game and get a better education. What are my chances of getting into Hamilton College?

From the Hamilton College website: “successful [transfer] applicants have typically earned a college GPA of 3.33 or higher.” So see what you accomplish academically this Fall, then, if you do well, focus your efforts on your transfer application during the Winter. The soccer coach would probably like to hear from you directly at some point, and this will also help your chances. You have until April 15th at Hamilton. If you really want to tranfer, also consider a few schools that are easier to get into.

Your goals seem like good ones. Wishing you success!

Several of my ex-teammates play for Hamilton so they got me in touch with the coach. He is definitely interested. I am doing well this semester, so i expect my gpa to rise. Not only that, but my WRT 102 professor is Hamilton alum and he is going to write me a recommendation! Hopefully it will work out!

Thank you very much for your response that was very nice of you!

I know of a D1 soccer athlete who transferred from Duke to Hamilton for similar reasons. Things seem to be coming together for you (a recommendation from an alumnus does carry some extra weight), so I hope it works out for you as well.
