Transferring from Tufts

Hi, I'm a first year student at Tufts University. Good school, no doubt about it. The best one i got into, that's why I came here. But, having come from a family that has never stopped working to get the next leg up on the socioeconomic ladder, I feel like I have a real chance at getting into a great school. A good social scene is very important to me and while Tufts is not bad, I would like one of better or at least comparable quality. My prospective majors are either international relations (why I came to Tufts) or economics (what I am beginning to be more interested in). Academically, I am considering school's of Ivy League or comparable quality. Particularly, right now I am interested in UPenn, Georgetown, Harvard, and Northwestern. Of course, I will gladly take any and all suggestions. Here are my stats and I'm looking forward to hearing from you about how realistic my current choices are, what I should do to improve my chances, and where else I should look.

Thanks in advance guys

the deadline passed for harvard, georgetown is in 2 weeks, not sure about penn/northwestern.

its worth a shot if you can mobilize quickly, college GPA is most important and yours is in the range of the schools your looking at, which means you can still be competitive.

actually, harvard's deadline is tomorrow. you have plenty of time!

Thanks guys actually i meant I would be transferring for Fall 2009 not n ext fall

Yeah, that's probably for the best. You definitely should just keep that GPA up as high as possible, that's all I can advise you. You want to show them you've changed since high school where your grades weren't stellar. That's basically what I've tried to do.
