Dear friends,
I am planning on applying to transfer from Cal to SLO since I was not able to declare Computer Science here. I was doing well in my computer science courses up until I performed poorly in my Discrete Math course. What are my chances of getting into SLO with a 3.45 GPA? What about UCI/Santa Barbara/Davis? I am passionate about doing CS even if that means transferring to a different school.
Thank you!
p.s. I am a sophomore.
SLO has about a 12% acceptance rate for CS transfers. Average GPA for transfers into the College of Engineering was 3.50 last year so you are close. I still think it will be a tough admit.
For the UC’s, you can see the UC transfer GPA by major and campus using this thread:

Just remember, CC to UC transfers get priority over UC to UC and CSU to UC/UC to CSU. Also SLO has a Oral communication course requirement for transfer, which the UC’s do not.
Best of luck.
What is Oral communication? I got a 4 on the AP English test in high school, does that count?
Oral communication would be a Speech class. CSU’s are very particular in applicants completing the "Golden Four: GE’s prior to transfer.
Golden Four:
-Oral Communication: Basic public speaking course. Other communication courses that are certified by a California community college will be accepted.
-Written Communication: Typically a freshman composition course that emphasizes essay writing or reading and writing concurrently.
-Critical Thinking: Typically your second semester composition or writing course, or a course in reasoning and effective argumentative writing.
-Mathematics: This course must be beyond intermediate algebra.
Could I take an oral course next semester or next summer and still apply next week?
You would need to have all requirements completed by Spring 2018, if you plan to apply for Fall 2018.
