Well.. i realise a lot of ppl is thinking of transferring TO UC berkeley but.. i am an international student and they gave me pretty little money.. so i am thinking of trying to transfer to yale, columbia, upenn or stanford.. These schools are likely to give me more money and that honestly.. I dont think there is any other schools worthwhile to transfer to from berkeley.

Any advice on how should build my portfolio in college? anyone with successful stories please help =D

Many colleges have limited financial aid available for transfer students specifically. Also, remember, the schools you've listed all give need-based aid only.

Considering that UC Berkeley is a rather rich school in terms of endowment, I'm not sure how much more these schools will be able to award you.

Jeydomz...I agree with what you are saying about financial aid, but the schools he listed are full-need met schools and state schools aren't, endowed or not.

well.. berkeley have an endowment of 3 billion shared among 40000 undergrad and grad students while schools like yale, columbia, stanford has more than 10 billion shared among 10000 -20000 undergrad n grad students..

Another point to think about is that he/she is an international student, some schools dont give FA to international transfer or that the competition is extremely high. Are these schools need-blind (I dont remember the exact term, which of the schools dont consider the applicant's financial needs during the admission process)?

I transferred to Yale from Berkeley. They didn't give me more money. But ironically Yale tuition is actually slightly cheaper than out-of-state Berkeley tuition, so it worked out anyways. As an international student you're going to have some issues getting financial aid anywhere you go I'd imagine.

As for advice... don't screw up? :P In reality, I guess I'd say just find something you really enjoy that you can devote a lot of time and energy towards and do well. Give a compelling reason for transferring, and find letter writers that know you (I went with two lab TAs, so clearly the importance of having a professor write something for you is overstated).
