I was just wondering if it was possible to transfer from UCB/UCLA to UCI/UCR. If possible, after how many years? and how difficult is it? Do you know of anyone who has done this before?

If you are wondering why, just read my other thread :)

I think it’s def. possible. It usually takes about 2 years meaning you apply during the fall of your second year. From what I have heard it is recommended to obtain UC to UC reciprocity meaning completion of your general education requirements at UCLA or UCB. This allows you to skip the GE’s at UCI / UCR. Also, depending on your major, it is also recommended to take lower division courses that are specifically for your major.

If you maintain a decent GPA (3.5 or up?) and show completion of breadth requirements you should be fine. In your personal statement you might want to state why you are looking to transfer to another UC. Best of luck!

If you have enough AP credit from high school and stack up on classes it is possible. You have to be “junior standing” by the end of Spring quarter or semester.

Sorry for bumping such an old thread, but can anyone give more feedback on how this is possible? Would it be better to drop out and go to a community college starting winter quarter? Or should I stay at this school for the rest of the year and maybe even next year? I really want to transfer to UCR by my sophomore year at least. :/

Should I call UCR or go to my school’s admissions office to ask them about it? Thanks guys!
