Transferring from UChicago to Penn

So most of the threads here are about transfering from state schools/CCs to private colleges. But what about transferring from UChicago to Penn?

I'm a first year. My high school stats were pretty solid, and I got a lot of scholarships (I think my one D in IB higher level math first semester took me out of the running for Penn) I applied to UPenn CAS last year ED, was deferred, and then rejected during RD. What are my chances of applying for transfer to UPenn CAS this year?

Also how does the transfer work for quarter systems-->semester ones? (UChicago is on the quarter system)

(p.s.I'm transferring for family reasons. Not I don't like UChicago. It's awesome here. And no fun does not come to die here.)

It depends on the school. My D has a friend who transferred from a qt to sem school and did get full sem credit, but it wasn’t Penn.

This is odd, I actually really wanted to go to Chicago for college but got waitlisted and ended up at Penn (via Ohio State and then transferring). We should just switch spots! hahaha
From what I understand, the Penn transfer process is pretty much just luck. Although I did get in, I think it’s because one of my recs was from the daughter of a big-wig in the Penn and Philadelphia communities. I did find out, however, that the director of admissions has said in the past that he wants kids who don’t just want to transfer to transfer, but want to transfer because they’ve changed and realized Penn is right for them. So, you’d have to justify that, especially in the context that you’ve already applied. You’d still have to make them think that you’ve changed and realize it now more than ever or something.
And as for the credit transfer, it kind of sucks. Some classes aren’t going to count, period. Others will only get some credit. But, if you’re willing to lose some credit, it’s not too too bad.

While this can be true, transfers don’t always lose credits. My D transferred and didn’t lose any credits, and her friend (see my post above) made out like a bandit.
