Hello all,
I was considering whether transferring to either of these schools would be worth it for a computer science major. I’m doing fairly well so far at UCSC, and would be eligible to transfer, with the exception of one little problem: UCSC doesn’t offer a course in C/C++ programming whereas UC Davis and UCLA are C based (from what I’ve heard). I’m doing really well here, and I really love this school. My only reason for wanting to transfer is that I don’t want to be outclassed in the job field because I didn’t go to a more prestigious college. Also, I fear that by going there, considering the academic program is much more challenging, I will earn horrible grades in class.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Apply and see what’s going to happen. Otherwise, you have great option by staying put.

It’s pretty difficult to get into UCLA as a CS transfer. Last year, they admitted something like 1% of CS applicants with near perfect GPAs. It’s worth a try but just know chances for everyone (not just you) are super slim.
