Did not get into main, but am considering strongly going to Pitt Greensburg Campus. How much years will it take to transfer from Greensburg to Main??? How is Pitt Greensburg? I want to transfer to Main ASAP from Greesburg.

bump

hey, don’t know answer to your questions or I would have responded before now. Hopefully, someone who does will jump in.

bump

Hi Pitthopeful - I’ve been reading your posts over the past few years and I strongly encourage you not to put all your eggs in one basket (Pitt). Go ahead and enroll at Greensburg or another school, you may be able to transfer after 1 or two years, or you may not. You may find that you really enjoy Greensburg or whichever school you end up at. Your happiness and your life does not depend on going to Pitt. In other words, go in with a good attitude - that you will enjoy your classes, pursue and active social life, etc. If you do want to transfer to Pitt, you have to get strong grades at Greensburg - make sure you tell your advisor what you want to do and he/she should be able to tell you what you need.

Like @southeastmom said, depending on grades you can transfer after your first year. It will still depend on the program/major/school you are transferring into, though.

So is there a specific rule on transferring from Greensburg to Main??? I want in the Dietrich Arts and Science School. On one it says minimum credits needed is 24, but on the other link it says 60 credits is needed? Which one is correct? I am really confused.

To me, it sounds like the later may be competitive transfer, in which you go into the general transfer pool at Pitt main, while the former is non-competitive relocation (guaranteed as long as you meet the criteria).

So I can get 24 credits from Greensburg and still can transfer after a year???

Hi - Kerri from Pitt Admissions here. If you are pursuing a major within the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, you must complete 60 credits at UPG with a 3.0 GPA, and then you can relocate to the Pittsburgh campus.
