Is there any difference in these processes?

I'm working on a backup plan since I got waitlisted from UW Seattle. Somehow, miraculously, UW Bothell is still accepting applications. So I'm probably gonna send one in today or tomorrow.

My plan, if I get denied acceptance after being on the waitlist, is to either continue going to Bellevue College (Running Start student currently) or to go to UW Bothell. Either way, after 1-2 years, I'll transfer into UW Seattle.

Thing is, I know that community colleges here basically guarantee a successful transfer into UW Seattle if you're a good student above 3.0 and you've earned 90 credits. Does UW Bothell have the same guarantee? Cause if not, I think Bellevue College might be a better option for me to continue going to.

There is no guarantee for community college students. That was an old policy and doesn’t apply anymore.

Didn’t know that. Still, if I got this close to admission to UW Seattle, I don’t think transferring from community college would be an uphill struggle based on my previous performance.

I don’t know. Hopefully, SS will chime in. I did read that transfers were getting a lower admit rate than freshman entry. Hope that was wrong.

while the direct transfer agreement is discontinued… (so they are not REQUIRED to) they personally commit to transferring about 30% of the the transfer applications they get from community college students

Oh and please note, Bellevue College is no longer a community college. UW puts a higher preference on community college transfers over transferring from another college.

travelgirl: While Bellevue College does have two four-year degree’s, they are still scored as a community college by UW-Seattle admissions.

Agree with travelgirl and slsniff. Once BC is considered a “college” in UW’s eyes, I think we’ll be hearing about a lot less people going to BC in hopes of transferring to UW.

Transferring UW Bothell is looked at the same as the other schools, like WSU or Seattle U. Just because it is a UW campus doesn’t mean that transfer applicants will be given a bit extra leeway.

Transfer spots are open based on how many freshmen decide to not come back to UW. There are only a certain number of spots per graduating year, so even if thousands of people apply for transfer spots, there may be very little spots open.

I would personally go to a CC then transfer rather than UW Bothell and then transfer.
