Transferring From Vanderbilt

I think Vanderbilt is a terrific school, but for a variety of reasons, I do not think it's the place for me. As a result, I'd like to transfer, but I want to see if my stats/activities could land me a school that might prove to be a better fit. My GPA last semeseter was a 3.41, and I'm guessing the average GPA is in the 2.9-3.1 range for freshmen. I'm an economics major and I'm well ahead of schedule in terms of courses taken. I write for one of the newspapers and this past summer I interned for a New York investment firm. Last year I was waitlisted from Duke and rejected from UNC (where my mother went). Do I stand a chance at either of these two schools? I really would appreciate any help.

Not at Duke. Maybe at UNC. I'm surprised your were rejected from UNC and accepted to Vanderbilt though.

I say apply to UNC and if you're rejected work on your GPA for a year and try again. You can give Duke a shot, but it's about a 4% transfer rate and a 3.5 would be considered pushing it - a 3.1 or sub 3.0 GPA is basically impossible.

I'm afraid that the average GPAs at Vanderbilt are in fact quite low. Could anyone else offer any advice? I'm taken quite a few more economics classes than most freshman economics majors have at this point in time. For my admissions essay, I would plan on threading this with my internship this past summer.

Here are some more of my stats:
HS: Arguably the Top Day School in State
GPA: 3.4ish weighted: 3.7
APs: 4 on AB Calc, 5 on Stat, 4 on Macro, 5 on Micro
SAT: 2070: 710 Writing, 650 verbal 710 Math
SATII: 770 Writing, 720 math IC, 660 Us History
EC's: okay, nothing too special

bump... any other schools I should look at?

dude, I am from vandy too. and I am gonna transfer out as well,I think you can try WUSL.
