Transferring from WSU to UW

Hello all! A recent turn of events has lead me to change my plans for undergrad. I have known that I will be going into veterinary medicine since before I started high school. My plan was to attend Washington State University, as they ARE known for their vet school, for my pre-vet focused ecology and evolutionary biology major. However, I did not intend to stay in state for veterinary school itself. Well, someone in my family passed away recently and left us all hanging; basically I cannot afford to go out of state anymore. My major and career trajectory still has not changed but I would like to transfer to UW so that I can utilize their far superior resources for undergraduates. And… you know… not have to live in Pullman for the next 7 years.

I am currently a “freshman.” However, I entered with 46 semester credits. My admissible transfer GPA (basically Running Start GPA) was a 3.126. I know this is low… I’ve struggled with stats, pre-calc, and calc 1 and 2 and it destroyed my GPA. I do not yet know what my GPA at WSU will be (I’m hoping for a 3.7).

My overall high school GPA was a 3.53. I also took IB HL History and IB HL Biology and scored a 5 on both of the exams. I also took IB SL Marine Biology but my score for that test doesn’t matter as it was Standard Level and I did not choose to do Full IB.

Whenever possible, I took classes that catered to my intended major in high school (be it CHEM121 or Astronomy 101 through Running Start).

This semester my course load includes Chemistry 105, Physics 101, Anthropolgy 101, and History 105 (a non negotiable required WSU common core requirement, otherwise I would not be wasting my time with history).

My SAT was a 1650. Yeah… it’s not the best. Math and I do not get along… However, I believe I have enough credits to where UW does not need my SAT scored.

So… give it to me straight; should I even try? I was very involved at my school and can write a fantastic personal statement.

Bump? I’m desperate

Plz?

Those don’t look competitive for UW. Certainly not for Vet School.

I’m not worried about my impending GPA for vet school. But thank you about UW
