I would like to start off and say that USC has been my dream school for nearly my entire life. I know you have all heard that one before, but anyway, I applied in the fall of 2009 and did not receive the decision I was hoping for on April 1st. I will be attending UC Santa Barbara instead in the fall of 2010. As you can tell for the title of this thread, I am planning on transferring

I am posting this thread because I am desperate in attending USC. I will absolutely apply as a transfer next fall and I am going to do everything I can in able to be admitted. I am asking you guys to please post any suggestions or advice not only for me, but for other transfers out there as well. What are some of the things transfers can do to increase their chances of acceptance? How does the transferring process work at USC? What kind of GPA do I need as a transfer? Anything you guys post I'm sure will make this process easier and smoother. Thank you for reading this and hopefully your advice will help me and others soon join the Trojan family!

I’m applying as a transfer too! Right on.

Start by checking out the amazing http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/743892-usc-2010-transfer-thread.html . They are almost up to 10,000 posts. I don’t think that thread has been off the first page since last July. Ask your questions there - they are RIGHT now being accepted or rejected so they may have some advice about what qualifications to shoot for - but be persistant! That thread moves SO fast that questions end up two or three pages back very quickly.

Good luck!

The 2011 version should be up by July or August - you two can help keep that one on the first page all year!

Follow the transfer guide and planning worksheet to make sure you are taking courses that will transfer over and cover the general education requirements:

Generally the average transfer gpa is around 3.5 unless you want to transfer into one of the really competitive colleges like Marshall or the school of cinematic arts where the average gpa is more like 3.8+

Most of your questions can probably be answered by reading the 2010 transfer thread.
