My DS is a freshman at UMass Amherst, and he has decided to transfer for fall 2021. His hs stats got him in to one of the schools he is applying to, and would likely have gotten him in to the others with merit, based upon our research. Unfortunately, his fall 2020 grades aren’t his best ever, and while he’s doing really well this semester, he’s worried that his difficult first semester amidst the pandemic is going to make it really hard to transfer. Does anyone have any insight into how schools in general are looking at current freshman trying to transfer in corona times? He addressed this in his xfer app essays very well. In retrospect, he wishes he took a gap year, but here we are. Wondering how forgiving schools are being in terms of maybe giving extra weight to hs stats under the circumstances.
