I've finished my freshman year at a very good college but want to transfer to a different university. I'm interested in transferring in January.

I'm considering going to community college this fall to take some of the basic classes (algebra, chemistry) rather than going back to my current school for the fall. It's considerably cheaper. Going back to my current college for just the fall semester doesn't seem worth it.

Will going to community college hurt my chances? I'm wondering if admissions officers will think I'm taking a step back or uncomfortable/unready for a four-year university. (My freshman grades were 2.8)
