I searched the transfer requirements, and UT Austin calls for at least 30 semester hours of credit. I can do 15 per semester of 1 year at a community college. Could I then likely switch schools? I'm in California.

Here's the link. Do these req's involve transfers from 4 years or CC's, or both?

Transfer requirements are the same for 4year or CC. Pay close attention to the courses needed to get into your major. See UT Be A Longhorn website for specific major requirements.

It’s very possible. Also, transfers come from both CC and universities. Keep in mind that, from what I hear, out of state transfers are more difficult to admit than in-state so try your hardest to make all A’s as well as having strong ECs in order to stand out. What is the major you’re applying to? As Jamcafe says, there will be courses you must have or be enrolled in at the time of applying to UT.
