I have been admitted to the School of Social Work.
I have heard that the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) is open transfer.

Would it be possible to transfer from the School of Social Work into COLA Economics before my freshman year?

I plan to work hard my freshman year and meet the requirements for internal transfer into McCombs; I believe that COLA Economics would better help me fulfill these requirements than the School of Social Work.

if you are a freshman it really doesn’t matter what you do just apply for internal transfer into mccombs next fall while getting all of your basics done at whatever school you are in. You will pretty much be taking the same classes as everyone else being at either school will have no effect on prep for mccombs

jchaplan is correct. At UT there is a definite core curriculum that everyone has to take, no matter what your major is. The key is to get the highest GPA possible. You will not be able to apply to transfer into McCombs until the Spring semester.

Actually mccombs only accepts transfers of any kind during the fall so you will spend your first year taking the courses you need for transfer. Just look at mccombs business school requirements and take those. I would also suggest buffering your schedule with some easy classes to make sure you make a high enough gpa to transfer in.
