Transferring into a college as a senior, will I be able to keep my credits?

I recently got accepted into my dream school, Cal Poly SLO. However the problem is that I am already attending the school Cal Poly Pomona and I will have completed approximately 145 quarter units by the end of this academic year. I transferred last year to Cal Poly Pomona from a community college after being rejected by SLO, and on a whim I applied again thinking I had no chance but they accepted me.

I am somewhat concerned though since this doesn’t exactly seem like a common occurrence, and I am afraid I may end up either taking a very long time to complete my degree in Industrial Engineering, or not being able to complete it at all due to the degree residency requirements for Cal Poly SLO.

Here are my concerns:
If I am going in as senior standing, will I be able to keep all 145 of my quarter units? Or I will I be knocked down to a limit of 105 max like an incoming transfer student from a community college?

If I need 12 GE units in residence but only have 8 units left of GE classes I need to take, will I be able to take a random GE course? Or am I only allowed to take GE courses that fulfill requirements that haven’t been met?

Is there a chance of me getting stuck with not completing some weird residency requirement and not get a degree? Or did the admissions office know for sure I am able to complete my degree?

Lastly, will I actually be coming in as a senior standing? Or am I kidding myself and I am would be coming in as a junior just like any other transfer from a CC?

I am going to call tomorrow to try and have some of these questions answered, but as you all know sometimes you receive incorrect information from people, especially when it’s a little more of a special case like this. So if you have any feedback at all please let me know.

Alright, called the admissions office and they were not able to help. The person guessed that I would be just like a CC transfer and br unit capped. However they were just guessing it seemed. Going to try calling a different department now. Does anyone have any advice on who I should call?

Try the academic counseling office. Or maybe a departmental advisor.

Try the Recorder’s Office.

Alright, I was told that transfering units is not limited if you are transfering from another university. So I will be able to keep all of my units.

So for future reference, which office, or what resource was able to answer your question? When people look back at this thread, it would be helpful for future applicants.

The admissions office should tell you. Typically, universities won’t accept cc credit if you have achieved junior standing, so if someone starts at a U and transfers to CC, they will only keep so many credits toward graduation. The courses in excess may count toward requirements, thus freeing up some credit as elective. That’s at least what happened with transfer students I worked with.

The evaluations office was able to clear it up for me

Make sure you are aware of the graduation requirements, especially #7 residence requirements:

Luckily I will be able to meet all of the residency requirements since I have approximately two years of classes left, and thank you for bringing it up. The only thing that I will have to go somewhat out of my way to fulfill is my 12 units of resident GE. Since I only will have 8 units of GE classes left.
