About what GPA would I need to get into UCLA / UCB as a poly sci major?
Also I have some questions about the major itself as I'm not totally set that I want to major in it.
Is this a useless major? Some people say it is but with research I've done it seems like a very versatile major
What type of jobs can I get? How is the job market for this current major?
How is the pay for this career?
Thank you!

I happen to think its one of the more versatile majors, which is why I chose it, but I was told the same thing about it being useless. As far as GPA goes, I got into Berkeley with a 3.53 and a good story, so if I can do it, you can too.

I don’t see why people see it as useless when you can do a lot with it

The elitist will tell you its useless as any other humanities/social science.

Its versatility is what makes it worthless. You can do anything with a political science degree, which means it prepares you to do nothing specific. If you get a chemistry degree, you really have to do something related to chemistry–but you’re well-prepared for that job.

The thing about humanities/social science is that you can’t stop at your BA. Just know going in, you have to attend grad school, law school, etc in order to really be marketable. Hard science/engineering/etc majors don’t have as much of a problem in that regard.
