Can anyone give me any information on what it takes to transfer into business honors from regular McCombs after a year? I know high grades are important, but I heard that they look at how you've acted as a leader in college, which is confusing to me because I don't see how anyone could have leadership positions in their freshman year at such a large school.

I don’t see how anyone would NOT have leadership positions if interested.
Examples
FLO http://utexasflo.com/
Undergraduate Business Council <a href=“Student Life | BBA | McCombs School of Business”>http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/BBA/Student-Life/UBC
LEI http://deanofstudents.utexas.edu/lei/
Sororities / fraternities / spirit groups are considered “leadership”.
No problem to register your own organization / club, 3 people needed, I believe.

Also, the first semester UT recruits mentors / advisors for next year
Orientation advisor http://deanofstudents.utexas.edu/nss/spot_oa_recruit.php
FIG mentor <a href=“Application Process | TEXAS Undergraduate Studies”>Application Process | TEXAS Undergraduate Studies;
Plus all kind of mentors in other programs, I don’t even know them all.

Wow, I had no idea those organizations existed! Thanks for the help

You are welcome.
