Transferring into General Engineering difficulty?

Basically, I was wondering how hard is it to transfer into General Engineering from University Studies?

At this point, I'm accepted and enrolled into Virginia Tech, but I was only accepted into University Studies. Because of this, I plan on transferring into General Engineering by possibly the Spring Semester so that I can graduate within 4 years by completing an Intro To Engineering course over the summer and following an Engineering Freshmans schedule closely. I intend on getting good grades of course, but besides this, I'm still a bit worried in regards to if I get denied, then I wouldn't know what to do.

Anyways, how hard is it to transfer into General Engineering from University Studies?

Calvin1100: It is not hard but the only way you will be able to transfer tin GE in the spring is if you take a CC equivalent (EGR120 in a VA CC) over this summer or during the fall semester. My son is in the same situation as you and has registered to take EGR120 at Southwest Virginia CC over the summer. Others elect to take EGR120 at New River CC. If you do not take the ENGE 1024 equivalent then you may be able to take it in the spring if you get a really good GPA or on a space available basis. Then you may need to take ENGE 1114 in the summer to keep on track for a 4 year graduation. How hard it would be to graduate in 4 years may depend on your chosen major. I can tell you that it seems impossible to graduate in 4 years in Mechanical Engineering if you do not complete ENGE 1024 and ENGE 1114 by the time you start your sophomore year. You would need to look at the checklists for your chosen major.

Now, if you do get ENGE 1024 and take the right freshman courses and get a 2.0 or higher GPA you should be able to transfer into GE without any other hoops to jump through.

There are several threads and links to relevant resources if you do a search on CC or look at my other posts to find the threads.

Good Luck
