I just applied to McCombs as a transfer for Fall. I think I stand a good chance judging by my GPA so long as I meet the indicator requirement.

I took 2 business calculus classes at my university but it's highly possible that only one will transfer. So most likely I will have M 303K (Business Calculus 1) by itself. I was worried that this would keep me out of McCombs due to comments I have read here, however, I found the following statement which states that I might have a chance. Can anyone let me know if this is accurate or if I'm interpreting it incorrectly?

""Although 403K/403L are retired, the course numbers are still used for transfer credit and the completed sequence satisfies the BBA calculus requirement, except in the Engineering Route to Business major. Students with transfer credit for a single business calculus course (303K or 403K) are assessed for readiness to undertake additional calculus; typical options are to enroll in 403L through University Extension (UEX) or its equivalent (MATH 1476) at Austin Community College." Common Transfer Credit Issues - Calculus Courses

It would be great if anyone personally has any experience or knows for sure about this issue.

Hey I applied there as well for the fall semester and this is what it says on the McCombs transfer guide:

Business Calculus I (MATH 1325 or 1425) and Business Calculus II (if available) are accepted in combination.
Business Calculus II is offered only by Austin Community College (MATH 1476), Collin College (MATH 1376),
and Dallas County Community College District (MATH 1370). Due to limited availability of Business
Calculus II, and because MATH 1325 or 1425 do not prepare students for Calculus II courses at UT Austin,
option #1 is strongly recommended instead. Students who transfer only MATH 1325 or 1425 are ineligible for
Business admission and must complete an appropriate second-semester course to pursue internal transfer to
Business; typical solutions are to take M 403L through University Extension or MATH 1476 at Austin Community
College.

Option #1 is the Calculus 1 and 2 combo. Hope this helps!

If anyone has ever applied to mccombs externally with a high gpa and only 1 business math it would be interested to hear your story. Whether you had to attend ACC and internally transfer or whatever.

You previously stated that you took two business Calculus classes. First, did you take them at a Texas college/university? If you did, you can use the ATE system you provided a link to and check to see what UT courses these classes transfer as. If you are OOS, then you are at the mercy of the Admissions office to review and grant credit for that second Calc course.

If that second Calc course does not transfer, you would then be admitted into your second major choice. Your options would be to attend ACC and complete Calc 1476. You would then have to wait until Fall 2014 to internally transfer into McCombs.

Hey Kha, this is a great question, and I am glad someone else asked about this. I have also applied to McCombs for the Fall, and good luck to everyone. With that being said, I have to be honest that I may have bad news. First, where did you take Business calculus two? If you took it at CCCC, ACC, or DCCCD I do not know what the problem would be with that counting. Is there some particular reason you think it may not transfer?

The problem with the link you posted is that it is a little outdated. :[ You have to search outside the box but the new McCombs External Transfer Guide 2012-2014 isn’t on the website, but is online.

This is under the Mathematics section on the second page…

"Due to limited availability of Business

What you read from the common credit issues is correct in the sense that if you take the Business Calculus Sequence from one of the approved colleges then I think you are mostly likely golden, but if you just take Business Calc. 1 you are not eligible and thus must take Business Calc 2 through ACC or something(not quite sure how that works).

I know on previous transfer guides it said “induvidual readiness” but unfortunately that has changed.

If you completed business calculus II at one of those colleges listed I don’t see any problems though, so it just depends on that. Hope that helped!

I hate to plug, but I can use chances or answers on my thread, I have only had one reply.
