So my plan was to go to DePaul for a year or 2, and if my grades are high enough (ie 3.7+), then I would apply to transfer to Ross. Besides a high GPA, what type of credentials would I need, and should all of my credits transfer? A source tells me that the school of Ross is a 3 year program; is that true? Thanks

Yes, Ross is a three year program, so if you complete 2 years at DePaul, you will still have to spend 3 years at Ross. Secondly, the odds of transfering into Ross from another university are very poor. There aren’t exact statistics for transfer students, but the admit rate for Michigan students is roughly 40% and for pre-admits is roughly 20%. Transfers are third priority and probably have an acceptance rate significantly lower than 20%. As a total makup of the program, I would estimate that 75% of Ross students were regular admits into LSA or Engineering and transfered into Ross after completing one year at Michigan. Another 25% of Ross students were pre-admits. That’s 100% of the students right there. Transfers into Ross from other universities make up less than 1% of the students.

This said, demonstrating leadership and entrepreneurial abilities and writing a very strong essay would be essential, on top of maintaining a very high GPA. Also, successfully comleting advanced Math courses and a summer internship would certainly help.

Internship experience relevant to business would be very big. It’s possible Ross admissions officers would like to see some advanced Math, but I’m fairly certain you don’t even use calculus in the B-school (if you do, it’s very minimal and simple), so adcoms are probably just up on some high horse thinking their students need to be very quantitative (scoff). Awesome recruiting though (for some reason).

As Alexandre said, transfers into Ross from other universities make up less than 1% of the entering class. It’s nearly impossible, I know of 2 external transfers admitted that had around 3.8-3.89 GPA’s and impressive work/leadership experiences from UPenn and Wellesley I believe. So coming from DePaul you would probably need close to a 4.0 and some impressive work/leadership experiences. Most likely, you will have to transfer into LSA as a sophomore, spend one year and then transfer into Ross and take a 5th year.

If I were to go to DePaul for a year, could I transfer in and begin the 3 year program then? Assuming I had a great year along with EC’s
