Hi I just applied to transfer from Worcester State College to Umass Amherst and I was wondering if I could size up my chances. I'm a History major and my first semester I got a 3.2 GPA wit an A- in World Civ and a B in US History III. I already have 2 other history credits because I got a four on my US History AP Exam. I did alright in High School ( I have Massachusetts residency if that helps) my senior year I got straight A's and B's while my other years out of 6 classes I got for the most part B's a few C's and one D (in Spanish not my specialty). I have great EC's and wrote a pretty good essay. So how are my chances?

bump.............

please guys any help would be greatly appreciated

What was your high school GPA and what were your test (SAT) scores?

Since you're only submitting one semester of grades, they might either wait for Spring grades (and base it on your college record) or - if your high school record is great - admit you right away.

I don't have any special insight into UMass, but I'd think that a 3.2 would get you in easily. You might talk to the Prof you got the A from, and ask her/him if they could help the application along (profs often know the profs at the other local schools).

I got a 1550 on my SATs and I had a 3.0 GPA in high school

anyone............................

please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you will probably get in... 80% chance
but hopefully someone else will give u opinions.

Thanks bradshaw! Anyone else?
