How hard would it be to transfer from a Texas community college to USC? I still have 1 more year to complete at my cc but want to apply for transfer for next fall at USC. My overall GPA is 3.79 right now and I saw on collegeboard the admission rate for transfers is 27%, Even though I’m doing great in colllege my SAT scores were not good in high school but I can’t remember what they were.
Also I forgot to mention I am looking to transfer there for archaeology or sociology, but I’m not sure if I might change my mind and go for something more difficult.
Follow the transfer thread and read through last year’s for some tips. Your SAT doesn’t mean anything for transfers coming in with two years of transfer credit, they evaluate you based on your college work and gpa.

And be sure to check out the transfer pages on the USC website, they have a lot of good information. You can also find out who your advisor is based on your area. Good luck!
Check out USC’s transfer guidelines. 27% might sound like a low number, but remember that USC is a large university with all sorts of people applying (including those who are well below your GPA). Also, some schools place less weight (or zero weight) on things like HS GPA and standardized test scores when an applicant has completed a certain number of college credit hours. For USC, if you have more than 30 hours at your CC, you don’t have to send test scores. Also, 58% of transfers come from CA CCs, so you might stand out somewhat geographically.
I say go for it. Just make sure that it’s financially doable.
Thank you, that was really encouraging!
