Transferring into UT Q's

Hi! Well this is my first time posting here so I hope I'm doing it in the right place. I just had a few questions about transferring into UT (Want to go major in Economics) and what some of the requirements are.

I just graduated HS with 41 credit hours with a GPA of 2.967, but I plan on getting that up by retaking some classes I'd gotten C's in. I didn't get into UT but did get accepted into the CAP program but have decided to stay home and study at a CC here for a few reasons. What's a recommended GPA to aim for when transferring in? By the end of this next year I should have 71 or so hours completed - would those many hours hurt my chances of getting in as well?

Any other info would be really appreciated, thanks!

You need a minimum of 3.5 to get into UT. I think your only chance in getting in is if you accept the CAP offer.

I would CAP, you would have to bring your GPA up to around a 3.5, which is difficult with 41 hours already.
