Hi,
I graduated a few months ago and was waitlisted by my top school (UW Seattle) and didn’t get in, so I decided to do CC, specifically Bellevue. I really want to transfer to UW Seattle after only a year because I don’t want to miss out on college years and because I prefer a larger environment, as corny as it sounds. Does anyone have any experience with my situation or any advice? Is it possible to get in as a sophomore or do I have to be a junior?
Thank you!
Number of years doesn’t matter, what matters is having 90 credits before you transfer.
The website says sophomore standing is between 45-89 credits but is 90 credits required? Thanks.
Having <90 credits will make you a less competitive transfer applicant. UW prioritizes applicants with >90 credits because those students have completed close to 100% of their lower division credits and can really only continue their studies at a 4-year school. Preparation for your major is also very important for transfer applicants - UW wants transfer students to have most of their major prereqs completed at the time of transfer. There are definitely students that transfer with less credits, you just have less working in your favor. Since you’re in the area, anyway, it wouldn’t hurt to apply again after a year. Worst-case scenario, you don’t get accepted and have to reapply the next year.
