Transferring into UW Seattle

I applied to the University of Washington - Seattle, and Seattle University (among others). I wanted to attend UW first and foremost, but got rejected. Had 3.4 GPA (from Junior and Senior year in the US, all APs, even English III and IV and English is my second language [Art/Drawing was my lowest grade because a problem I had with my teacher]) and I don't know what my GPA was for 9th, and 10th because I studied in Mexico where I was in the Pre-IB/IB program (they asked for Mexican transcripts after I submitted my app, but those were all graded differently). I have an 1800 SAT and about 300 or so hours of volunteer work/community service in the US, and 200 (maybe?) in Mexico. Did Theatre all years, and was always cast as a lead or understudy, and extras, except for Senior year. Did Track 9th and 10th grade, and participated in several smaller business-related (was applying to Foster) activities/competitions like FELC, etc. I also worked weekends at Target doing in-store food demonstrations. I moved here with citizenship, pretty much like a refuge, won't get into that but that was what my essay was about (the what you overcame one). I graduated in 2013, but took a gap year to work and keep doing volunteer work, while I figured out what I wanted to do.

Anyway, now I'm weighing if I should stay in Texas, or move to Seattle to try and transfer into UW after a year, or so... Would I have a better bet enrolling in Seattle University and transferring from there? Does anyone know or have stats on transfers in between those two schools? Or if going to Community College in Seattle, and then transferring would be a different process/easier? How I see it, is that if I go to Seattle U and I don't get in as a transfer I can always stay there, but if I go to a Community College and don't get in I would have to either move back to Texas, or enroll in another school there?

I would appreciate any info! Thanks in advance :)

Uw definitely accepts many more transfer students from WA community colleges.

If transferring from a 4-year institution, they’re going to look for a serious and compelling reason why you’re leaving. It’s not going to make it any easier to get in just because you went to a “real college”.

.

@selloway‌ Thank you for that, I was looking, but couldn’t find that figure. I really need to do some serious thinking, there seems to be no other option than just take a leap! Thanks again :)

When did you receive your reply and for what term did you apply? I think I read decisions would be out in July?

@Anton164‌ I applied last year as an incoming Freshman (around November, December 1st is the deadline) for Autumn 2014, and they sent out emails saying they would send out decisions via postal mail March 15th-31st. I got mine the monday right after the 15th saying I didn’t get in :frowning:
