Transferring Junior Year

Hi all.

So I've decided that I want to transfer out of my current university. I have my eye set on NYU Steinhardt and Hunter College for Communication Disorders. I'm sort of in a dilemma though.

Hunter is out of the question for Fall 2010 since the deadline has passed. NYU is still accepting transfer applications until April 1st.

Now, my undergraduate GPA kind of sucks -- like a 3.36 right now. I'm wondering if I should spend another semester at my current college (first semester of my junior year) and transfer for the spring semester. By then. my GPA will be a 3.5.

Is it weird to transfer to a college in the second semester of my junior year? I know I will need to spend an extra year and probably take a summer to complete courses.

Depending on how many credits you’ve been carrying, they will probably not all transfer. Otherwise I don’t think it matters.

I transferred to Steinhardt with a 3.45 for another “no portfolio required” program and got in as a spring sophomore.

**TwistedxKiss: **I’m expecting that my credits won’t all transfer. I can cope with that. I kind of want to start fresh now that the school I’m applying to will have a Speech Language Pathology program (the school I’m currently enrolled in doesn’t have it). At the moment, I’m expecting that I will have to spend an extra year or two to complete my degree. Thank you for the reply!

missamericanpie: Your GPA actually gives me some hope! I thought that most people transferring will have like 3.8 or something. My GPA suck but I expect to boost it to a 3.5 by the end of this semester. I had a rough freshman year, but rebounded this year by getting a 3.7 semester GPA in the fall. Maybe with my personal statement and upward improvement sophomore year, the admissions people might somewhat consider me and not just look at my app, laugh, and toss it away . Thank you, too, for the response!
