Transferring next year

I was recently put on an extended waitlist for my college of choice. I now plan on attending my second choice but I'd like to transfer after a year. How should I go about this? Which classes should I take? I realize this all depends on the university but I'm sure there's a general consensus or some tips on transferring. Also, would retaking the SAT/ACT affect the decision of my first choice next year? I should probably look this up more on the college website but one more question. Do you think asking the college I'll be attending what classes I should take in order to transfer is a good idea? I feel so confused. Help, please?

If the school you are intending to attend is indeed your second choice, I don't see why you are still planning to transfer. Either you didn't apply to enough schools you would be happy at or you simply cannot accept the fact that not everyone could get into a certain school for a variety of reasons.

Again, I don't know your situation entirely; perhaps you do have a legitimate reason. However, I encourage you think carefully before attempting to transfer.

What school is your first choice and what is your second choice and what are your HS stats? If your scores were low then retaking the SAT/ACT would definitely be something you would want to do. Take a look at the website of your first choice to see what transfer criteria/prereqs they base their decisions on and try to take certain classes, and keep a high GPA to meet them.
