i am community college student who is greatly considering transferring to U Del. next fall. I am a international business major and after reading the qualifications i was a bit concerned. Aside from a 3.0 minimum gpa which im not concerned about, the website states that Business majors also require a "B or better grade in a college-level Calculus course." I have completed precalculus 1 with a B and will also be completing precalculus 2 later next semester as well at my local CC. Do these classes count as college-level Calculus? do you recommend I take full on calculus 1? If i dont take calc 1 will i still have a chance of being accepted?

I would recommend that you directly contact the Admissions Office at UD by phone or email in order to get definitive answers to your questions. My own best guess would be that if they require a college level Calculus course for transfer admission into the Business Program that the Pre-calculus courses would probably not meet this requirement (but I could be wrong). Good luck.

are you in Delaware? Delaware Tech credits do transfer, but you really have to make sure you pick courses that transfer. Which you can sit with an advisor and work that out. The benefit to Delaware Tech is the cost you are paying per credit is alot cheaper than UofD.

Thank you, but I currently live in NJ

Having one student in the business school I would say that precalc would not meet the requirement. UD’s math courses are pretty strict and require a full blown calc (with math lab). The business school advisors would know best but you can go online at the UD course matrix and there is pretty much a correlation between every course at UD and what your local college offers and how they transfer. For example my D took Calc after her freshman year at our local community college. She was able to look at the course matrix and find the course our local school offered as the accepted calc class. She then had to get a form signed by a few people at UD and bring it to the registrars office. Once this was completed she was assured the class she took would be accepted as a substitue for the appropriate course. She is doing a similiar thing this summer with Stat 2 in the interest of time being she has a double major and double minor and wants to graduate in 4 years. My son is entering in the fall as a UST student with a hopeful entry into the business school. He needs to complete UD’s pre calc first before being eligible to take calc. Until he completes the Calc and Econ class (micro I believe) and has at least a 2.8 GPA will he be eligible to apply as a management major. Hope this helps… it’s a long answer but in a nutshell… take a look at the UD matrix and talk to an advisor… they have all the true answers. best of luck to you!

Actually, UD has a online tool where you can select any college (including community colleges) in the nation and get a list of already approved classes and how they transfer into UD. It was very helpful when my daughter only needed one last class to graduate
