Transferring - Optional Test Scores

Hey everyone,

I need some advice. I am applying to transfer for fall 2019 and one of the schools I’m applying to is Swarthmore. Swarthmore makes self-reported test scores optional. They don’t even strongly recommend them or anything. They’re just straight up optional. I was just wondering if y’all think I should report them. I am currently a second semester freshman.

HS GPA: 3.85 UW/ 4.2 something W (doesn’t rank but would proababky be around top 12% (wasn’t in honors classes freshman year))

College GPA: 4.0

ACT: 33 (E: 35, R: 35, M: 30, S:
30)

Strong ECs and essays should be pretty good.

Poly sci major

I was going to report them, but my college advisor said not to because they’re optional. I’m assuming he said that because I don’t have a 34+. Do y’all think I should take his advice?

uuuhhh… i wouldn’t take his advice. report your scores. reporting them won’t hurt you, but they can certainly help, especially since you’re well within their act score range and are applying as a first-semester sophomore where your high school background information will matter just as much as, or possibly more than, your first year of college. sometimes “optional” doesn’t really mean optional.

Your scores are great.I’d submit them!

Thanks for the advice. I kinda figured the same.
