Transferring out of a JC?

Hi, I'm looking to transfer to a few schools (USC, UCLA, NYU, etc.) in hopes of getting accepted into a well-renowned film program. I've been doing very well GPA wise at the junior college I'm currently attending, but kind of flubbed it a bit in high school, as well as on the SATs.

What I was wondering was what do admission reps. look for when considering transfer students? Essay/GPA/relevant experience of course, but what about high school GPA/SAT scores? Will my high school experience consequently affect whether or not I'm accepted even if, hypothetically, I have a 4.0 GPA on 60+ credits from a junior college? Any information would help, thank you!

Try checking the transfer admissions 101 thread at the top of the forum..it has the answers to your questions.

the further into college you apply, the less weight is put on hs. if you apply as a soph transfer, after a year in college, they will see only your 1st semester/midterm grades so more weight will be put on HS. If, as you said, you apply after 60 credits…they will ask for your HS transcript but look mostly at college.

And for the UCs, things are a little different. So wrt UCLA or any other UCs, post your qx on the UC Transfer subforum. Lots of knowledgeable folks there.
