Transferring out of a liberal arts colleges with a scholarship as an international student

Hey guys, so i need some help. I am a rising sophomore, currently attending Carleton College. There are weird financial situations within my family, leading to the fact that i have to try and transfer out. This is specially difficult as i am an international student, in seek of financial/merit aid, as a transfer. I wouldn't mind transferring anywhere in the world, and starting either January, or next Fall. I currently have a 3.55 GPA, SAT scores: 740 math, 670 Reading, 680 Writing. Highschol gpa was 98.5/100, and currently in Carleton, i am pursuing a CS/Economics (finance is my area of interest) degree. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank You very much in advance.

How about your home country?

As a rule, transfers have fewer options in merit and financial aid packages. There aren’t as many merit awards fo transfers and they are last to get their aid package. Even schools that may guarantee to meet full need sometimes do not extend that guarantee to transfer students. Throw in that you are an international student too, you have a double whammy. Are you looking for more money than what Carleton is giving you? That’s a slim chance, I can tell your right off. Your best bet is to try to work it out with Carleton. Also be aware that if you are not in good stead there financially–you owe money, they may hold your transcripts.

You need to tell your family that your chances of getting aid as an int’l transfer are slim to none…so maybe they can straighten out their weird situation and continue to pay for C.

Otherwise, you’ll be back in your home country going to school.

How much can your family pay each year?
